South Korea suspects newly planted North Korean mines caused DMZ blast

South Korea's Joint Chiefs said Sept. 28 preliminary findings from a joint investigation with the UN Command indicated recently planted landmines were involved in the Sept. 21 western DMZ blast that severely wounded three officers. Investigators placed the site 10 metres from terrain where North Korean forces allegedly laid mines. A final determination is pending.
