81% of England's Fresh Produce Grown in Water-Stressed Areas

Rebalance Earth analysis published 27 September 2026 found 81% of England's fresh produce is concentrated in water-stressed areas. It also placed most wheat, barley, oilseed rape, sugar beet and potatoes in moderate to very high drought-risk zones. The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board called the 2026 England-Wales cereals harvest 'disappointing'.
