UK losing up to £6.5bn a year in EU trade over product rules

UK exporters have lost £3.7bn to £6.5bn a year in EU sales since 2021 post-Brexit rules took effect, Institute for Public Policy Research modelling finds. Without mutual recognition, UK product assessments are not accepted in the EU, raising administration costs. The institute says many firms quit EU sales or opened EU subsidiaries.
