Microsoft Puts Activision in Charge of Halo, Sea of Thieves, Age of Empires

Microsoft announced Sept. 22, 2026 that Activision will assume responsibility for Halo, Sea of Thieves and Age of Empires. The next flagship Halo will be built by a new purpose-built Activision team separate from Call of Duty, while Halo Studios supports Halo Infinite and Halo: Campaign Evolved. World's Edge and Rare's UK team move under Activision.
