Activision Takes Over Halo, Sea of Thieves, Age of Empires

Microsoft said Sept. 22, 2026 that Activision will oversee Halo, Sea of Thieves and Age of Empires. The next main Halo game will come from a new Activision team, separate from its Call of Duty groups, while Halo Studios maintains Halo Infinite and Halo: Campaign Evolved. The World's Edge and Rare UK studios shift under Activision.
