First wasp spider recorded in Cheshire on Chester Zoo estate

Chester Zoo conservationists found a fully grown female wasp spider, nicknamed 'Wendy', in a rewilded field on the zoo estate — the first Cheshire record, confirmed by the British Arachnological Society. Native to mainland Europe, north Africa and Asia, the species is described as a 'climate refugee' moving north as temperatures rise. It is not dangerous to humans.
