EU Proposes Mandatory Energy and Water Disclosure for Large Data Centers

The European Commission has proposed requiring EU data centers above 500 kW to disclose energy and water use under a common rating system. Operators would publish sustainability labels from 2027 if approved, after a two-month review by Parliament and Council. The Commission says facilities must be highly efficient and integrated to limit grid impact.
