EU Would Require Large Data Centers to Disclose Energy, Water Use

The European Commission has proposed mandatory energy and water reporting for EU data centers over 500 kW, a measure of power use, using a common efficiency rating. If Parliament and Council approve after a two-month review, operators would publish sustainability labels from 2027. The Commission says centers must be highly efficient and grid-integrated to limit strain on power networks.
