National promises to nearly double income cap for First Home Loan scheme if re-elected

National has promised that, if re-elected, it would lift the First Home Loan scheme's combined income eligibility cap from $150,000 to $300,000, letting households earning nearly double the current threshold qualify for a 5 percent deposit. The existing caps, set in 2022, are $95,000 for a single buyer without dependents and $150,000 for multiple buyers. Kāinga Ora runs the scheme.
