UK Energy Price Cap Rises 4% to £1,723 in October — a Three-Year High

Ofgem confirmed a 4% energy price cap rise to £1,723/year for a typical dual-fuel household from October to December 2026 — a three-year high. The increase follows July's 13% jump, both driven by global energy market disruption from the Iran war and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. A 5% VAT cut on electricity from October will trim roughly £45 from bills.
