Eight Stolen Matisse 'Jazz' Prints Recovered in São Paulo Suburb

São Paulo Civil Police recovered eight Matisse prints from the 1947 'Jazz' series on August 13, 2026, at a home in São Bernardo do Campo. Stolen in a December 2024 heist at the Biblioteca Mário de Andrade, the works (worth roughly $200,000) were returned to the library. A fourth suspect was arrested; five Portinari works from the same robbery remain missing.
