Newly Transcribed Turing Story Challenges the Popular Narrative

Cambridge professor Sarah Dillon has transcribed "Pryce's Buoy," a six-page unfinished story Alan Turing wrote around 1952–53 after his conviction for gross indecency. Its scientist protagonist, she argues, is an autofictional stand-in for Turing himself — "playful, funny, cheeky, literary" and openly sexual. She calls the 2014 film The Imitation Game a historically inaccurate "Hollywood lone hero" narrative.
