Alan Turing's Hidden Short Story Rewrites His Public Image

Cambridge professor Sarah Dillon has fully transcribed "Pryce's Buoy," a six-page unfinished story Turing wrote around 1952–53 after his conviction for gross indecency. Its scientist protagonist, she says, is an autofictional stand-in for Turing. Dillon argues he was "playful, funny, cheeky, literary, and someone who really liked sex," and calls the 2014 film The Imitation Game a historically inaccurate "Hollywood lone hero" narrative.
