
U.S. Tariffs on Nearly All Imports Begin July 24
On July 24, 2026, Section 301 tariffs — import taxes imposed under a U.S. trade law — took effect on goods from over 80 countries, covering 99.4% of U.S. imports. Countries that banned forced-labor imports pay 10%; others pay 12.5%. Canada, the EU, Mexico, and the UK face 10%. China, Japan, Australia, and Brazil face 12.5%.
