
New U.S. Import Taxes on Nearly All Foreign Goods Start July 24
On July 24, 2026, new U.S. import taxes — fees added to foreign goods entering the country — took effect on products from over 80 countries, covering 99.4% of all U.S. imports. Countries that banned goods made with forced labor pay 10%; others pay 12.5%. Canada, the EU, Mexico, and the UK face 10%. China, Japan, Australia, and Brazil face 12.5%.
