Federal Historic Preservation Council Set to Vote on Rolling Back Tribal and Public Input Rules

The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation will vote in mid-July 2026 on revisions to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, NPR reported. The draft would end required consultation with Native American tribes, make public comment optional, and narrow what counts as a historic property, Vice Chair Travis Voyles told members.
