Carney lifts retaliatory tariffs on CUSMA-compliant U.S. goods, keeps them on the rest
Prime Minister Mark Carney will drop retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods that comply with CUSMA, the trade pact governing most North American commerce. Tariffs stay on non-compliant American imports. The move follows U.S. tariffs of 50 per cent on roughly $20 billion in Canadian products imposed July 20, 2026.
