Shah Wins Democratic Primary in Arizona's 1st District

Emergency physician Amish Shah won the July 22 Democratic primary in Arizona's 1st congressional district, defeating Marlene Galán-Woods, who had the DCCC's backing — the House Democrats' campaign arm. The open seat, vacated when Republican David Schweikert ran for governor, has swung between both parties since 2020. Shah faces Trump-endorsed former NFL kicker Jay Feely in November.
