Apple to scan 'Anyone with the Link' iCloud Drive files, dropping end-to-end encryption for them

Apple plans to scan iCloud Drive files shared via "Anyone with the Link" for harmful content, starting with iOS 27.3 and other 27.3 updates due in December. Those files would no longer be end-to-end encrypted (sender and recipient alone hold the keys), making them accessible to Apple. Apple also reserves the right to remove content and to block or disable accounts.
