Denmark Proposes Ending Student Allowance for Students From Wealthier Families
Denmark's government has proposed scrapping the student allowance for students whose parents earn over 700,000 kroner ($105,248) a year. Since 1970, the monthly payment has gone to students regardless of parental income. The Higher Education Ministry expects about 14,000 students to lose their stipends and 8,000 to see them reduced. The government says the cuts would free up funds for defence spending.
