Bluetooth SIG adds High Data Throughput, lifting LE to 7.5 Mbps
The Bluetooth SIG has adopted High Data Throughput (HDT), an optional feature of Bluetooth Core 7.0, announced 4 November 2026. HDT lifts Bluetooth Low Energy's peak bit rate from 2 Mbps to 7.5 Mbps, nearly four times the LE 2M PHY (physical-layer) rate. Devices supporting it are expected in 2027; no products or chipset vendors have been named.
