Voters in 10 States Pass 33 Local Measures Restricting Data Centers

Voters in 10 states approved, or were on track to approve, local ballot measures restricting data centers in the 2026 midterm elections. As of early Wednesday, 33 restrictive measures had passed and six more were projected to pass, Engadget reported. The measures include outright bans, temporary moratoriums, energy-use caps and public-approval requirements. Five localities have not yet posted results.
