Bluetooth SIG adds High Data Throughput, lifting LE's ceiling to 7.5 Mbps

The Bluetooth SIG has adopted High Data Throughput (HDT) as an optional feature of Bluetooth Core 7.0, announced 4 November 2026. HDT raises Bluetooth Low Energy's maximum bit rate from 2 Mbps to 7.5 Mbps, nearly four times the LE 2M PHY rate. Devices supporting it are expected to appear in 2027; no products or chipset vendors have been named.
