Labour proposes rent-to-buy scheme for public housing tenants
Labour has proposed a rent-to-buy scheme for public housing tenants. Working tenants of Kāinga Ora, the state housing agency, would get a $100 weekly credit, or $5,200 a year, held in a trust account towards buying their home. The home would be priced by independent valuation. Community housing providers could choose to take part.
