Block Unveils Dessa, a Speech-to-Speech Model Trained Only on Human Speech

Block has announced Dessa, a speech-to-speech (spoken input, spoken output) conversation model that the company says was trained from scratch on nothing but human speech. Its official page calls it "the world's first AI you can have a realistic live conversation with." Early access for a small group of AI safety researchers is planned. No public release has been announced.
