Block Announces Dessa, a Conversational AI Model It Says Was Trained Only on Human Speech

Block has announced Dessa, a speech-to-speech conversation model that the company says was trained from scratch on nothing but human speech. Its official page calls Dessa "the world's first AI you can have a realistic live conversation with." Early access for a small group of AI safety researchers is planned; no public release has been announced.
