Dutch poet Lieke Marsman dies at 35; her cancer memoir is now out in English

Dutch poet Lieke Marsman, former Netherlands poet laureate, died on 3 June 2026 at 35, according to her publisher Pluim. She was diagnosed with a rare, incurable cartilage cancer in 2018, aged 27. Her memoir about living with it, On Another Planet They Can Save Me, is now out in English, translated by Sophie Collins.
