British Museum announces anonymous £30m pledge at Red Ball gala

The British Museum in London announced an anonymous £30m pledge at its Red Ball gala on 17 October 2026, The Art Newspaper reported. The report said the gift is separate from the night's unannounced total. Both will fund the museum's masterplan redevelopment, estimated to cost at least £1bn, including reworking the Western range and new welcome pavilions.
