Decomp.dev announces immediate shutdown over AI misuse

Decomp.dev will close effective immediately, creator @encounter announced in a statement titled "Sunsetting decomp.dev" on the homepage. The site indexes video game decompilations, rebuilds of readable code from finished games. @encounter said the "community aspect of decompilation has been broken" by people using AI in questionable ways, as reported 19 Oct 2026.
