Labor ministers knew of Tax Office credit card ban plan since July

Assistant Treasurer Daniel Mulino says he and Treasurer Jim Chalmers knew in July the Australian Taxation Office was considering banning credit card payments for tax bills. He said so on ABC's Insiders on 18 October 2026. Chalmers had told parliament he learned of the decision in late September, about a week before it was made public.
