Ofgem proposes fee for suppliers offering cheap energy deals

Ofgem has proposed bringing back the market stabilisation charge, a fee to shield suppliers when wholesale prices, what they pay for energy, swing sharply. The plan, under consultation, would require a supplier signing up customers with cheaper deals to pay rival suppliers. Ofgem says reactivating the rule would not itself create charges or raise bills.
