China urges Israel to halt West Bank settlements

China said Foreign Minister Wang Yi told Israeli President Isaac Herzog to stop the "forced establishment" of settlements — Israeli housing on West Bank land claimed by Palestinians — and reverse such moves. They met Oct. 15 on the sidelines of a conference in Azerbaijan. Herzog said the talks covered ties and the Middle East situation.
