First Stargardt patient receives PRIMA retinal implant
Science Corporation implanted its 2x2mm PRIMA photovoltaic chip under the retina of a first Stargardt disease patient in May at Sydney Eye Hospital. CEO Max Hodak said the patient saw a letter in the first rehab session and read a word in the second. Camera glasses beam near-infrared light to the chip, acting as artificial light sensors.
