Stanford questions Lessels' future over Teaching Council role

Minister Erica Stanford says NZEI Te Riu Roa president Ripeka Lessels may have to stand down after being deputy chair of the Teaching Council, which registers teachers. Stanford blamed a 'rotten culture' for letting teacher Timothy Fisher keep teaching despite warnings. The Anderson report found he should have been struck off a decade before his conviction for child sex offences.
