Stanford says union president Lessels' position may be untenable over Teaching Council role

Minister Erica Stanford says NZEI Te Riu Roa president Ripeka Lessels' position may no longer be tenable, citing her time as deputy chair of the Teaching Council. According to Stanford, a "rotten culture" let teacher Timothy Fisher keep teaching despite warnings. The Anderson report found Fisher should have been struck off a decade before his conviction for child sex offences.
