European gas up over 150% ahead of winter

Up more than 150% in 2026, European benchmark gas — the region's reference price — is heading into winter withdrawal season, when stored gas gets used, Reuters reported Oct. 12. EU gas was 84.56 euros per megawatt-hour, a standard energy unit, on Oct. 13, Trading Economics showed. If tight supply lasts, heating and power bills could rise.
