
Climate meeting leader says fixing climate matters as much as defence
Turkey's climate minister Murat Kurum, chairing November's COP31 UN climate talks in Antalya, says rich nations should spend far more on climate change than NATO, the Western military alliance, asks for defence — 5% of national income. 'The climate issue is the security issue,' he told the Guardian, saying the move away from coal, oil and gas has already started.
