Christa Pike, 50, is up and walking in hospital after surviving two doses of pentobarbital, a sedative used in lethal injections, during Tennessee's Sept. 30 execution attempt, lawyer Stephen Ferrell said Oct. 8. Taken unconscious but alive from the chamber, she remains mentally foggy with severely injured arms.
