UK to Keep East Jerusalem Consulate Open as Separate Mission

Britain’s consulate building in East Jerusalem will remain open as an independent UK mission serving Palestinians, Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said 8 October after talks with Israel. Israel had ordered it closed in response to British sanctions — penalties — on West Bank settlements. London now plans to restore staffing after recent withdrawals.
