WHO Presses Russia on Second Pneumonia Case at Irkutsk Plague Lab

WHO director-general Tedros has asked Moscow to clarify reports of a second worker at Irkutsk’s plague research institute with pneumonia of unknown cause, pointing to two media reports, one Russian. WHO says it still does not know what germ killed a 28-year-old employee and cannot fully assess the situation. Russia denies any plague cases in Irkutsk.
