Canada moves to permanently bar MAID for mental illness alone

Canada plans to permanently rule out medical assistance in dying (MAID) when mental illness is the only condition, ending further delays. The proposal would cancel the March 17, 2027 start date for that expansion, which followed years of temporary exclusions.
