Conservatives say £6bn inheritance tax plan paid for by welfare cuts
The Conservatives said exempting family homes from inheritance tax — the tax paid on estates after death — would cost £6bn a year in 2029-30. Leader Kemi Badenoch announced the pledge at the party conference. The party said it would be paid for from £71bn of yearly savings, including £36bn from welfare cuts.
