
Christa Pike Conscious After Surviving Tennessee Execution Attempt
Christa Pike, 50, survived Tennessee's 30 September execution attempt after two doses of pentobarbital, the sedative used in lethal injections. Witnesses said she choked and struggled for an hour. Her lawyers say that as of 6 October she is conscious, talking, in critical care with severe arm damage, handcuffed and shackled to her bed.
