Washington voters to decide fate of millionaire tax

Washington voters will decide in November whether to repeal a 9.9% tax on earnings above $1 million, signed in March. It takes effect Jan. 1, 2028, with first payments due April 2029. Repeal backers say it could eventually hit lower earners; Gov. Bob Ferguson says he would veto any expansion.
