France Pauses Stun Grenades at School Protests After Teen Loses Hand

France’s interior minister Laurent Nuñez has temporarily paused police use of stun grenades — explosive devices to disperse crowds — at high-school protests. The order follows Monday’s injury in Lens, where a 15-year-old lost a hand. Nuñez announced it on RTL radio pending investigation. Police say 200 protesters threw projectiles; the boy’s mother says he never picked up the grenade.
