Depression Nine Forecast to Become Hurricane, Threaten Gulf Coast

Tropical Depression Nine formed Oct. 6 in the southwestern Gulf, about 630 miles southwest of the Mississippi River mouth with 35-mph winds. The National Hurricane Center expects a tropical storm (next stronger stage) by Wednesday and possible hurricane Thursday. AccuWeather forecasts possible early-Saturday landfall from southeastern Louisiana to Florida Panhandle, with 3-6 inches of rain, up to 10 in spots.
