PQ wins 59-seat minority in Quebec election
Paul St-Pierre Plamondon led the Parti Québécois to victory in Quebec's Oct. 5, 2026 election, winning 59 seats to form a minority government — most seats, but short of a majority. The PQ took 28% of the vote, a record-low winning share. The Quebec Liberals won 40 seats. Plamondon, elected in Camille-Laurin, addressed supporters in Montreal.
