Jeffrey Archer, Author and Former Conservative MP, Dies at 86

Jeffrey Archer died peacefully at home between writing sessions on Monday at 86, publisher HarperCollins reported. The former Conservative MP (elected member of Parliament) and life peer (appointed member of the House of Lords) spent five years in the Commons before becoming deputy chairman. His political and writing careers may be judged separately.
