Victoria Court of Appeal dismisses bid to privately prosecute King Charles III

Three judges at Victoria's Court of Appeal dismissed Robbie Thorpe's bid to bring a private prosecution, a criminal case brought by a citizen rather than the public prosecutor, against His Majesty King Charles III in Melbourne. Thorpe, 68, elder of the Krautatungalung people, alleged genocide through systems disadvantaging Indigenous Australians. It was his third defeat since 2023.
