90-Foot Hōlei Sea Arch Collapses in Hawaii

The 90-foot Hōlei sea arch collapsed into the Pacific, the U.S. National Park Service confirmed Oct. 2, 2026. The arch stood on the Big Island's southern coast in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, formed about 550 years ago in ancient lava flows. Sea arches — rock bridges carved by waves — are temporary, and coastal erosion eventually topples them.
